Building the economic, ecological, and social resilience of the Chuk’son area and Barrio Indigenous communities through collaborative sustainable building training, renovation, construction, and the creation of a local sharing economy.

The Tucson Indigenous Adobe Initiative team, in celebration of the powerful, intercultural Indigenous Earth building techniques in the Sonoran Desert, works with low-income homeowners to revitalize adobe homes in need of renovation and repair, while providing high-level training in adobe construction, renovation, and maintenance for both homeowners and Tohono O’odham, Yaqui, Xican@, and other community members. We are also forming a hub for a generosity economy through networking, block parties, school involvement, continuous outreach, and smaller workshops.

We are also excited to announce our partnership with Pan Left Productions and Reyes Suarez to host a Youth Media Film Training, EARTH ROOTS, which is producing a film piece highlighting the beautiful intercultural history and contemporary experience of adobe and earthen construction as a process of reconnection, inspiration, and practice of living as sovereign, resilient Indigenous Nations.
